Bookmatch ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when you use the Bookmatch mobile application (the "App").

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Bookmatch does not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email address, or password to use the App.

If you contact us directly (for example via email), we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and message content.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the App, we may collect anonymous and non-identifying usage data, including:

• App interactions (for example swipes, saved books, feature usage)
• Device and app performance data
• General usage patterns and diagnostics

This data is collected in a way that does not directly identify you.

1.3 Subscription and Purchase Information

Subscriptions are purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

We do not collect or store payment or billing information.

To manage subscriptions and entitlements, Bookmatch uses RevenueCat, a third-party service that processes purchase receipts and subscription status. RevenueCat may collect:

• Anonymous app user identifiers
• Purchase and subscription status
• Transaction metadata required for validation

RevenueCat does not have access to your payment details.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and operate the App
• Enable and manage subscription access
• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Monitor app performance and stability
• Respond to user support requests
• Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

3. Analytics and Third-Party Services

Bookmatch uses the following third-party services:

• Mixpanel for anonymous product analytics
• Google Firebase Analytics for usage analytics and diagnostics
• RevenueCat for subscription management and entitlement validation
• Gemini API to generate book recommendations based on in-app interactions
• Google Books API to display book metadata, covers, and descriptions

These services may process anonymized or pseudonymized data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data Sharing

We may share limited information with third-party service providers solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App.

We do not share your information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Information may also be disclosed if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data Retention

We retain anonymous usage and subscription-related data only for as long as necessary to:

• Provide the App and its features
• Comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements

You may delete the App at any time to stop further data collection.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws, including the right to:

• Request access to information held about you
• Request correction or deletion of data
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities

Because Bookmatch does not require user accounts, we may not be able to identify or associate data with a specific individual in all cases.

Bookmatch is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

8. International Data Transfers

Third-party service providers may process data on servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure that any international data transfers comply with applicable privacy laws.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information collected through the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
